Three special features of Consuming Fire
Placing lettering on a highly reflective surface almost ensures invisibility. There are actually 9 different layers or elements in the creation of these letters and they successfully stand out on the banner.

Some of the flames are lightly padded. Not every flame is edged in a similar fashion… some have sequins, others glitter and still others no edging at all. In creating “Consuming Fire” I custom mixed glitter to match the fabrics it was edging… this drastically increased the length of time required for construction as each glitter application required drying overnight (preferably) then a shaking of the banner before the next round of glue and glitter was applied. All excess glitter was saved and used in other colour combinations.

Putting human figures on banners is not my favourite thing to do… fabric choices are difficult because we aren’t reflective in reality plus deciding colour can be fraught with potential offense. I stay away from very white colours and the figures are usually not gender identifiable. The intention is simply to get the idea of humankind across.
