Three special features of The Lord our Healer
The red chiffon was cut on the bias after being inserted into the cross. It is stitched to the bottom of the banner at the fringe where the pearl strands are fastened as well. |
The hyssop was formed from a braid whose original purpose is button loops on the back of a wedding gown. We liked how it looped with a small leaf effect – the point being shop for the appearance not the advertised purpose. When gluing individual sequins on be sure to force some glue to bubble up through the hole. When it dries it is invisible and the sequin is less apt to flick off.

This was the first banner we made with sequins around the letters. We have since learned that for the greatest effect under lights it is best to have (as much as possible) the strands of sequins running in the same direction. (Run your finger down the strand. You want the smooth side going down as this means the light will catch the sequins more readily.) It requires more breaks in the strand but the reflective qualities are significantly improved if you do so. |
