Three special features of Beloved
The fabric used for Jesus’ robe is actually 2 layers… some old curtain fabric overlayed with a sheer that had some metallic sparkles in it to catch the light. His arms are padded to give extra oomph… to shape the folds the lines were stitched in and then covered with a glue line and glitter. The skin fabrics are actually two different fabrics as well – hers is smooth while his is textured representing the difference between male and female. The edges of their skin were not outlined with glitter or sequins to make them as realistic as possible.

Multi – layers for lettering adds visibility. I tried different combinations of the 3 fabrics until I had the right one.

Shopping for Christmas decorations on sale after Christmas landed me with this pearl garland. I had it for over 5 years until the right banner came along. The garland had to be hand stitched onto the edge of the banner because glue would not secure it enough. The drapings at the top are simply the pearl garland and a white and gold cording wrapped together along the crossbar. The banner is actually hung by gold cords looped over the crossbar. |
