Faithful One
Grasping me.
This is a quality of God that is difficult to depict. What is faithfulness? To each of us it is something different. In Scripture God is never actually called Faithful One, but His attributes of faithfulness are recorded many times. In Psalm 89, the Psalmist records praise about His faithfulness and at one point describes the Lord’s arm as endued with power (vs. 13). This verse prompted a picture of the Lord’s arm reaching down to save a person from a tempest. It was also pointed out to me recently, the verse Psalm 18:16 He reached down from on high and took hold of me; he drew me out of deep waters. I think we can all relate to sometimes feeling like we are in a tempest and then knowing His faithfulness in that place. The background fabric is black. Originally I felt this was important because of the place we often find ourselves when we finally call on Him to show His faithfulness. Since making the banner though, I have become aware of several verses that indicate the appropriateness of black as the background. Ps 18:11 He made darkness His covering, His canopy around Him... Ps 97:2 Clouds and thick darkness surround Him. Black is also the original colour of creation; God has great scope to move when all is black around us! The Hand of God is in a brilliant gold holographic material created to be three-D for greater impact. It is His right hand that saves us (Ps 20:6). The figure of the person being plucked from the water is without detail so all may relate to it. The water, also three-D, is in a navy coloured chiffon with other colours underneath for depth. The lettering is green to represent eternity and the peace we have in knowing God’s faithfulness. On the back is the verse from Ps100:5 For the Lord is good and His love endures forever; His faithfulness continues through the generations.
