This banner was birthed while reading Malachi 4:2 “But for you who revere my name, the sun of righteousness will rise with healing in its wings.” In my mind I saw an exploding star or sun – very brilliant against a black background with the accompanying impression of healings breaking out around us. Further Biblical study of sun, star and light began to reveal how much Jesus is represented in Scripture by these symbols. The Psalms is full of references to “the Lord is my light and my salvation”. Zechariah prophesied in Luke 1:78-79 about “the rising sun which will come from heaven to shine on those living in darkness”. Jesus in John 8:12 called himself the “light of the world”. Revelation 22:16 again speaks of Jesus as the “bright Morning Star”. Hebrews 1:3 says “the Son is the radiance of God’s glory”. So the picture of the star/sun started to take on the name of Jesus as the title of this banner. The background is black as He came to bring light into darkness. The main colours of the banner are gold highlighted with silver representing glory and the Word of the Lord. The star is shaped like an old fashioned compass star – Jesus points the way to the Father (John 14:6). There are multiple points on the star as He stands as a banner (Isaiah 11:19) to bring light and truth to the nations. The four silver facets of the star have the following names written on them – Morning Star, Sun of Righteousness, Light of the World and Radiance of His Glory. These names are not initially obvious as it is through revelation that we can see these facets of Christ at work in ourselves individually and those around us. Jesus brings salvation and healing, He shows us God’s glory and He will be coming again as the Morningstar. The Scripture on the back is a declaration - Isaiah 60:1-3 “Arise, shine, for your light has come, and the glory of the Lord rises upon you. See darkness covers the earth and thick darkness is over the peoples, but the Lord rises upon you and his glory appears over you. Nations will come to your light, and kings to the brightness of your dawn.” The glitter fabric used on the back symbolizes the dawn or His glory. We will show Jesus to the nations! |
