This banner was on the back burner for almost three years from the time I knew it was to be created. The holdup was, what does King of kings look like? It was not until the Ladies’ Bible study was studying the names of God that the design unfolded. We were learning about El Elyon or God Most High, meaning He is a conquering God (King) over all gods (kings). Thus the banner has a large crown over six smaller crowns. The number of crowns on the banner totals seven - the perfect number. I knew the banner needed to be white as that is the colour for conqueror. The white sequined fabric shines with the implication of triumph. The other primary colours on it are the royal colours of purple and gold. The title was simply ‘King of kings, Lord of lords’. This title is written on Jesus’ thigh as he comes as conqueror in Revelation 19:16. The message on the back is what our response to the King of kings should and will be - Every knee shall bow, every tongue confess (Phil 2:10,11) The biggest conundrum was that I felt the shape of the banner had to be a shield, but I didn’t know why. After the banner was constructed, I was doing my devotions one day and came across this verse, My shield is God Most High, who saves the upright in heart. Psalm 7:10. Very fitting that the banner depicting God Most High be in the shape of a shield! |
